Mission Music Foundation Takes A Hiatus

It pains me to say this. Effective Immediately, Mission Music Foundation will be taking an indefinite hiatus.

Mission Music Foundation has been my child since 2018 when I overheard at a local show about how several bands were struggling to afford rent and working several jobs to afford being a musician in addition to daily expenses. I remember thinking to myself, “Music saves lives! Why is it that the people saving lives are the ones struggling so intensely? This is not right! Something needs to be done about this.” And so I did some research. It had turned out that they were not the only ones. I spent over two months asking every local band I could find, how many jobs they each work to afford being a musician, if any members were in college, how many members could comfortably afford rent, and if any of them had diagnosed mental health disorders (though I only asked for “yes” or “no” and how many of them were diagnosed). It turned out that the results horrified me. And since, I realized that I needed to start that change. And what better way to do that than start a nonprofit?

Mission Music Foundation was born through a Facebook page, where I shared it with my connections. It actually started as a Facebook page fundraiser. Though I quickly realized that with all my mutuals being band members, none of them could afford to donate. I started posting about what the local scene and my mutuals were up to with shows, new music, and more. I was hoping that someone out there would see all these artists’ hard work and help support them. I have always hoped that because of Mission Music Foundation that by posting and promoting, someone out there discovers a new band and is able to support them. My friends had told me Facebook was starting to die out.

I took to Twitter and Instagram to create more pages, and our first photos were from This Year’s Comeback, a band now on hiatus. I kept posting and sharing all these bands and what they were up to. I kept thinking to myself that maybe if I could get enough awareness about our pages (as my mutuals weren’t able to donate), someone would be able to donate, and I could use that money to help a band out when their gear got stolen on tour, or their van broke down, or a band member couldn’t afford rent because their income was late.

Late into 2019, we had some staff changes and hearing how Warped Tour was ending, I wanted to use Mission Music Foundation to create our own version of Warped but for local bands. I wanted to headline with one more well-known artist and keep the bill mostly smaller acts. Unfortunately, right as we had started to truly set it up and make it happen(we had my savings, we had the bands agreed to it, all we needed to do was finish and announce it) that’s right when the pandemic got bad in 2020.

I remember being teary eyed as I was on the zoom with Zach saying, “I don’t want to pause this, but I don’t want to risk anyone’s lives. We are so close!! Will there be a vaccine available by then??” We decided to wait. And so we did. We told the lineup that it might not happen, we needed to first wait to see if there would be vaccines available. Everyone was so bummed. I still get messages about those involved being bummed to this day. Unfortunately, vaccines weren’t distributed or even made fast enough for us to pull it off, and so we decided to cancel it. It broke my heart as I truly thought that it would be the most amazing event. We considered waiting till this year, however, it was most reasonable to simply cancel it.

Which leads me to today. Mission Music has certainly had it’s highs and lows, along with my mental health. Many don’t know this, but I was in treatment for the majority of the time that Mission Music Foundation has been around and I do think that some of my mental health contributed to certain behaviors. I want to thank everyone who has been with Mission Music Foundation and supported us. However, with my move to college, several staff leaving and an ever growing workload put all on me, it’s time that Mission Music takes a pause. I just don’t have the literal time anymore to keep Mission Music and the vision I have for it. I do believe in the future, when I have the availability and staff, Mission Music will continue and become the dream I have for it, but now is not that time. I am realizing that I need to take more time to take care of myself, get through college, and to continue the mental health work.

Mission Music’s website will stay up as there are several resources on here available and the labor put forth by some of our prior interns, however emails will be discontinued and we are no longer taking requests for OnlyBands, our blog, or being active. Any future activity is no longer in the works, until further notice. If you have any questions about this you can email me at blakem@missionmusicfoundation.com

Until another time,

Spotlight: Rubber Releases “Fries & Wings”

This band is one to watch out for. Combining 90s R&B and hip hop, these two are doing all of the right things to create a song that so many will be singing and dancing to.

About Rubber

Rubber is made up of singer-lyricist, Andrew Loper, and producer/multi-instrumentalist, John Della Franco. The two met while attending Temple University in Philadelphia. The pair started to make music together just for fun, but then everything changed for the better. Loper and Franco played live in a campus coffee shop and were quickly signed to the Temple University Record Label. They then released their first single, which was received very well, and began to make music more and more. Rubber offers an R&B, Funk, Hip Hop, and a Jazz vibe to their music from the influences of Frank Ocean, Thundercat, Patrice Rushen, and Amy Winehouse. They do all of this while balancing a pop song feel to it.

About “Fries & Wings”

This song is sure to be a party song and truly encompasses the feeling of being free, young, and having fun with friends. Definitely has a 90s R&B vibe, but with a modern twist. The bass carries through and really makes this track what it is. Rubber has a banger with this one. Andrew’s vocals match the instrumentals perfectly and it is just one of those catchy songs you will be singing at all hours of the day. His vocal runs are spectacular and the catchy beat just makes this song. “Fries & Wings” is a feel-good song that will get anyone dancing and singing. This is the perfect song to listen to when you are having some fun with friends. Really just playing up all the stupid fun times you and your friends have and all the memories made. Something super cool about “Fries & Wings” is that the music video was filmed at Philidelphia’s own, “Tattooed Mom”, a queer-owned bar and community space. The music video encompasses a fun night out with friends and the whole vibe of the song. The band said this about the new single.

“This song is my Mariah Carey slow-groove club anthem” says Andrew (Lead Singer) who counts ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’ as one of his strongest influences. "We want this song to feel like that moment during a wild night out where you access a sliver of peace, when you feel at home in the chaos of a drunken crowd".

The bass-driven track is available now on most streaming platforms.

Overall

“Fries & Wings” will definitely be a hit and will get people dancing for sure. This song is a very catchy one and makes everyone who listens feel good.

Spotlight: Mistine Releases New Single “Everett Park”

This artist is making big moves in the pop-rock scene. Her new single entitled “Everett Park” shows an insight into her past relationship. “Everett Park” encompasses the beginning stages and ending stages of a relationship and the tainted memories that come with that. This song is one that will be stuck in your head and this artist truly has a gift.

Credit: BiataShem-Tov

About Mistine

This singer grew up in New Jersey and has already started to make quite the name for herself. Mistine just came off of a tour with Conan Gray, WizTheMC, and Zeph. The pop-rock singer loves to take her nostalgic feelings and turn them into beautiful songs. She has a certain talent when it comes to vocals. Mistine grew up loving music and her passion certainly comes through. With very close to 5,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, Mistine is making waves in the pop-rock scene. You could describe her music as the kind that you blast at full volume and sing your heart out to. Her songs are super relatable, catchy, and the perfect mix of innocence in her voice and so much power at the same time.

About “Everett Park”

This debut single was released on March 24 is a brilliant combination of heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. The lively electric guitar in the background matches her angelic vocals perfectly. There is a very nostalgic feel to this song. “Everett Park” is about a past relationship and all of the memories that Mistine still has. Memories are very powerful and can be in a positive or negative way. In this case, she has made something that was once very sad and caused pain and turned it into beauty. Taking a place that was ruined for you and starting to create new memories to replace the bad ones is something that everyone should do. Everyone has a place that is tainted and the bad memories flood in. This song shows listeners that they should not let the bad memories ruin that place for them.  Mistine creates a timeless song that so many people will connect with. This latest release by Mistine is available on all streaming platforms. In addition to this single, there is an accompanying music video. Mistine also is on track to release a 5-track EP before the end of the summer!

"My songs are made to listen to while you’re driving in your car, right before sunset when the sky is just turning orange, with the windows down, and your hair is flowing in the breeze. Timeless nostalgia. I thrive on the connections between others and myself. Why are we the way we are. Why do we do what we do."  — Mistine

Overall

Mistine showcases much of her talent in this new release. The sense of nostalgia and memories echo through and her vocals truly are magical. More music from Mistine is coming by the end of the summer, and if these songs are anything like “Everett Park”, they are sure to be hits.

Spotlight: Endless Midnight Releases “Prayer”

Mission Music has worked with this artist a couple of times before, so the name may be familiar to you. The singer-songwriter released this new song only a couple of months after their last single came out. The drive this musician has for creating songs is a testament to how much they truly care about their work.

About Endless Midnight

Musician Yuna Niemiec leads Endless Midnight, the alternative rock project. The vocals, instrumentals, and lyrics are all credited to Niemiec. As mentioned in previous posts by the Mission Music Foundation, Endless Midnight incorporates the sounds of rock, post-punk, metal, and more into their music. Showing no signs of slowing down in creating music, this is Endless Midnight’s third release this year. Endless Midnight released “Changes” in January and “Not Here Right Now” came out earlier this year in February. They have over 900 followers on Instagram. Just like the other two songs released this year, this new single embodies the same message in the lyrics. It seems like fans won’t have to wait long for new releases after this one.

About “Prayer”

This single sounds a lot different than the previous releases. The beginning does not have that hard rock sound. The beginning starts off with this cool drumbeat and it is accompanied by the vocals. Once you get to the chorus, that is when the guitar comes in. The guitar riffs throughout fluently carry the vocals. The theme of religion, Christianity, is present in this song, as well in most of Endless Midnight’s music. Asking for forgiveness and praying for everything they care for in life is the message in this track. The bridge offers this higher octave guitar riff that demonstrates Niemiec’s talents. This is my favorite part of the song. It is different than other songs by Endless Midnight. It is more simple I would say in terms of instrumentals, but that is what makes this song stand out amongst others. It is primarily just the electric guitar and drum in the background. It seems to be a somewhat new sound for Endless Midnight, but it still fits into their theme and style. Prayer comes out on Apr 17, 2022, so make sure you check it out on all streaming platforms.

Overall

Endless Midnight is really stepping out of their comfort zone with this new release. As said before, fans can rest easy knowing more music is coming from Endless Midnight very soon.

Spotlight: Joe Billy and Elementality Collaborate on New Song “Storm”

What do you think of when you hear these two words; Endurance and Perseverance. What stands out to you? Is it the hard work that comes with them? The pain someone might have to go through to come through victorious? Having the strength to keep going and not give up is something that is very important. The ability to keep fighting the good fight. This new single is all about moving forward and not letting anything stand in your way.

About Joe Billy and Elementality

Joe Billy has been involved with music for a very long time. From a young age, he felt a connection to music. Billy started to play the drums when he first started out in the music world. He now plays the guitar as well, broadening his musical abilities. Joe Billy released his most recent album in 2018 entitled “Don’t Mind Me”. The singer also has two other albums you can go listen to as well! Elementality’s lead singer is Jon Rosario. Rosario started playing music in middle school. As the years went on, he discovered the passion he had for music. Rosario plays piano, ukulele, and is the lead singer in the band Elementality. Elementality released an EP in 2019 featuring four tracks. Jon and Joe have been friends for a while and their bands have even played together before! The two decided to collaborate on their song “Storm”, which is the newest release for both of them.

About “Storm”

The vibe of “Storm” is very much a folk-punk and alternative track. This song was a complete DIY and you can tell the amount of hard work the artists put in. The artists worked and recorded remotely. The message behind the lyrics makes the song what it is. Jon came up with the chorus and then decided to bring Joe in on it to collaborate. “Storm” is about the hardships and turmoil behind events going on in the world. During July/August 2020, the Black Lives Matter movement was at its height and these artists were inspired by this. This song is about enduring the pain and persevering through it and coming through the other end of the tunnel. Jon Rosario said this about the track, “From the first few months of the pandemic to the George Floyd incident, I felt this sense of a storm coming through and hoping that we have the strength to endure what was being thrown at us.” This message comes through in the lyrics and this metaphor is one that is truly vulnerable and real. It is a story that must be told. Talking about the racial injustices the country is facing is important. The song starts off with rain and thunder rumbling in the background. As the song progresses, it builds up just like a storm. The metaphor of a storm approaching and having to prepare for it, go through it, and overcome it is really a work of art.

Joe Billy had this to say about the inspiration behind the song, “In terms of inspiration for the lyrics, ironically Jon and I came from similar mindsets. I was incredibly moved and impassioned by the BLM movement and I felt the need to really drive home the idea that there are people out there who literally have no other choice but to push forward over adversity, oppressors, or literally anything else in their way. As well as how for many people, that's the only life they know; fighting for their lives against odds that seem so much greater than them. But then I love how as the song moves forward, all of the pain, anger, and uncertainty turns into this triumphant statement of like "we're going to overcome this no matter what you throw at us."

Overall

This new song by collaborators Joe Billy and Elementality is one to listen to. The meaning behind the song is inspirational and I think it will spark a lot of much-needed conversations. These artists should feel incredibly proud of the song they created! Hopefully, there will be new music by both very soon. My fingers are crossed for another collaboration!

Music remained a huge part of her life and in 2019, Lea decided to pursue her music full time. She attended class at the Notting Hill Academy of Music. The young singer-songwriter has had much success recently and shows no signs of slowing down. In 2021, Lea released her debut EP “YOU(TH). In addition to this, she also headlined The Notting Hill Arts Club and gained over 100k plays on Spotify. She also had three features as BBC Introducing tracks of the day! She has over 10k followers across her social media and 11k monthly listeners on Spotify. Lea proves that talent and hard work pays off. The praise received from her previous songs will definitely carry over into her upcoming EP. Her second EP entitled, “SURVIVAL MODE”, is sure to connect with fans. Her newest single “MISFIT” is her second independent release of the year and gives fans an insight into her upcoming EP. “SURVIVAL MODE” includes songs about mental health and how to be different and cope with being a young adult. This EP is one that a lot of young adults will be able to relate with. Having an artist be so candid and open regarding mental health is refreshing. It is not as present in mainstream music as it should be. So many people struggle with their mental health and having songs that you can relate with is important.

About “MISFIT”

“MISFIT” is a track that is vulnerable and real. It is about not feeling like you fit in and learning to be okay with it. Learning to accept yourself is something that a lot of people have not done. Self-care and self-love is something many people have to learn and incorporate into their daily routine. This song makes you feel like it is okay to be different. Having this song to relate to is very important. Lea G does an amazing job in her storytelling abilities through this song. The song has a pop rhythm and her flawless vocals are accompanied by an acoustic sound. The melody is dreamy and helps you escape reality for 3:20. Her relatable message through the lyrics makes her different from other artists.

Lea said this about “MISFIT”, “I spent most of my life not fitting in, and I don´t think I ever will and I actually feel fine about it now. But when I was at school, I really struggled with it, because I got bullied very badIy and always thought there was something wrong with me. I wish someone had told me back then that I would find my tribe, and that not being normal would start feeling a lot easier once I would find my tribe. MISFIT is about embracing  being different, because you´re not the only one who is and showing bullies your middle finger”.

“MISFIT” releases on March 25, 2022. Her upcoming EP “SURVIVAL MODE” is to be released 2022.

Overall

“MISFIT” is for everyone who feels like they don’t belong. Lea is a voice for everyone who feels like they are not good enough or wanted or different. You are enough and you are wanted and it is okay to be different. Lea says it best in her song that being normal and just like everyone else is boring. Break the boundaries and do what makes you happy. Lea G is gearing up to release her second EP this year. Fans can rest easy knowing Lea G is sticking to her creative genius and is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Spotlight: Loser’s Club Releases New Single “She’s From Chicago”

Do you ever think about that relationship that could’ve been? This band released a song on this idea of a summer fling ending, but still holding onto the memories. If you like that pop-punk vibe, this band puts a unique twist on it, and trust me, they do it so well!

About Losers Club

This pop-punk trio hailing from Denver, CO, has been creating music together since 2019. Co-lead vocalist and guitarist Cass Braido and co-lead vocalist and bassist Tristin Pounders realized the potential they had between them. The two had worked together before, but The Losers Club came into fruition in Las Vegas. This dream was put on pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutting the world down in 2020. However, this did not shut down Braido and Pounders vision for The Losers Club. After many virtual rehearsals and auditions, Cade Ralston who plays drums joined the band. The band independently released three singles by the end of 2020, Radio Faces, Eloise, and Steady as She Goes. Once these songs started to attract more and more attention, the band started to gain more traction. The summer of 2021 proved to be a great time for the band. Their track “Freak Like Me” garnered praise from the Denver punk scene. The band has a lot to look forward to in 2022. The Losers Club is opening for large national touring acts and has booked some shows at staple venues in Denver! Keep an eye out for the Losers Club! They definitely are going to have a great year!

“She’s From Chicago”

This song features cool guitar riffs and also incorporates brass instruments. The band wanted to evoke this feeling of living in the moment. The feeling of a summer fling and like nothing else matters. The feeling of not thinking about the future and focusing on the present is what this song evokes. This song reminds me of a classic rom-com where the timing for the couple just doesn’t work out in the end, but they shared so many great memories together. The drumbeat gives off that classic pop-punk vibe, however, the song in its entirety does not sound like your typical modern pop-punk song you hear all the time. But, that is what The Losers Club wanted. It has this unique sound to it where it does have everything you would expect from a pop-punk song, but with a twist. It is just really cool to listen to and takes you someplace else when listening and that is exactly what the band wanted! Cass said, “It’s fun, it’s relatable and a little rough around the edges. Just like us as people. This song is about not thinking too much and just enjoying the moment, so we hope you do just that. Sing along and enjoy the ride with us.” This song is really just a feel-good song and makes you live in the moment. You can stream “She’s From Chicago” on all platforms now! The link for Spotify is here!

Hold on! Before you go, The Losers Club is opening for KennyHoopla in Denver, Co on April 13, 2022 at the Blue Bird Theater. Make sure to buy your tickets!

Overall

The Losers Club is a band to watch out for in 2022. They have a lot of shows booked and things in the works! Very exciting time for this trio and I cannot wait to see what they do next.

Spotlight: Scott Making Cents Announces “Jorts Songs for Jorts People”

This artist is one who doesn’t make music in the “traditional” sense. That is what makes him so different and unique from any of the songs you are listening to.

About Scott Making Cents

Scott Greenberg is the multi-instrumental musician and songwriter behind Scott Making Cents. He specializes in comedic popular music and to give him credibility, he earned a Master’s degree from NYU for his last album. Very impressive! Something that Scott deals with is the concept of what “music” is, what it can be, and what it should be. Greenberg has a motive behind his work. He wants to challenge what “serious” music entails and what the difference is. He really wants to challenge this and push the barriers surrounding “traditional” and “serious” music.

Music is considered an art form and what Scott does is that he takes that philosophy and challenges it. He sparks debate around Art vs. Content and what the difference between the two is and how they are correlated.

Jorts Songs for Jorts People

This album consists of unreleased songs. A couple of the songs have appeared on some media platforms, but Greenberg has not released a full album containing these songs. Jorts Songs for Jorts People features a track entitled “Abe’s Garden. This was originally a part of the “Our Fifty States Project”. This album specifically aims to question “serious” music. Something I really like about Scott is that he is questioning everything about mainstream music. Why is everything that tops the charts considered “serious and traditional”? Why is that what everyone chooses to listen to? Do people even realize that what they listen to is what they listen to? Society has made it so hard for people to have their own opinions. They see everyone else like a certain artist or song so they feel like they have to. What is the difference between art and content and where do they overlap? That is what this album is about.

The album Jorts Songs for Jorts People is available on Bandcamp and all other major streaming platforms on March 18, 2022. Make sure to pre-save the album.

Overall

Scott Making Cents’s message is that art can be anything you want it to be. Music is a universal language and it doesn’t matter what it is about, someone out there in the world will like it and appreciate it.

Spotlight: GARZI Releases New Single “MESS” Featuring Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens

This artist is going to take over the emo/punk scene by storm. He just released his newest single and trust me, it is one to have a repeat. Dealing with a “MESS” of a break-up, this artist shows his musical talents with “MESS”.

About GARZI

Chris Garzon (aka GARZI), always showed an interest in performing. From Miami, FL, he was a theater kid and initially wanted to pursue an acting career. As fate would have it, he formed his first band, The 3 Seas. His music was inspired by rock, punk, and metal sounds. After high school, GARZI found himself at the University of Florida. However, he just did not love the college lifestyle and moved back home. Timing could not have been more perfect for GARZI. Miami was aching for new hip-hop, rock artists, and GARZI fit the bill. GARZI had the perfect opportunities to meet the right people and really start to focus on his music. His first song “Bury Me in Designer” featuring ‘Til Death, was released in October 2017. GARZI quit his day job and decided to put all of his attention and focus into pursuing his music career. The grind never stopped from GARZI as he kept releasing songs adn his breakout song was “Demonstrate”. This song alone has 7 million streams on SoundCloud!

GARZI has worked closely with well-known music industry veterans such as Travis Barker and John Feldman. This emo/punk artist is the newest artist to sign with Outlast Records in partnership with 333 Wreckords. GARZI’s latest single is a collaboration with Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens. How did this collaboration come to be you might be wondering? Well, GARZI said than “Reaching out to Kellin was actually a lot easier than you’d think. I followed him on Instagram and saw he followed me back (fanboy moment) and I sent him a DM saying we should work and him being the cool guy he is, he was super down! I wanted this track to be really high energy and pack an emo punch and I think we accomplished that, so I’m happy. The song captures that moment in people’s lives where they’d rather have fun over anything else, especially having genuine connections/relationships.”

“MESS”

This track was clearly inspired by a failed relationship. Comparing said relationship to a mess shares that relatable quality with the audience. Most people can relate to a past relationship being somewhat of a mess. Whether it was a toxic relationship, a messy break-up, or something else, everyone has that “MESS” of a past relationship. This song exemplifies GARZI’s musical talents. The infectious guitar riffs and drum beat throughout, give the song that emo/punk vibe everyone needs! Both artists really shine in the song! The song just makes you want to jump up and down to it and scream it at the top of your lungs. The guitar is my favorite part and the lyrics just remind me of my own experiences with failed relationships. This song will definitely be added to my playlist and it should be added to yours as well. “Mess” featuring Kellin Quinn is available on all DSPs!

Wait! There’s more! GARZI is on tour RIGHT NOW! He was added to the So What?! Music Festival lineup in May. Spotlight: ADPTD Releases New Rock EP “Bedroom Walls”

Music encompasses the ability to share every feeling someone can have. Whether it is loneliness, anger, hate, love, and so on, an artist who can emotionally connect with listeners is one to watch out for. This artist’s debut EP does just that. The amount of truth and raw emotion captured in these songs provides listeners with the feeling that they are not alone.

About ADPTD

Adptd released her compelling debut alternative rock EP “Bedroom Walls” on Feb. 25. Her EP is completely DIY which allows her talent and passion for music to come through even more. Josie Randle is the frontwoman, singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer behind Adptd. Adptd takes inspiration from 2000s emo rock, top 40 hits, and other artists within the pop/rock and pop-punk genre. Randle’s music focuses on hardships she has faced and allows her unwavering vulnerability and honesty to come through in her music, Her new EP conveys an openness regarding anxiety, depression, relationships, and political racism. In “Bedroom Walls”, Randle discusses her experiences throughout life and provides a vulnerable insight.

Randle said “It takes a lot of time and emotion to heal. Writing these songs in my bedroom studio and working through so many feelings I've endured and experienced let me really dig into these songs and production. There are definitely lots of hard truths, mental health strains, loss of loved ones, and more poured into these songs but music has allowed me to open up and share these emotions and feelings I've gone through. I hope listeners will be able to relate to the vibe of these songs and the lyrics as well. I'm stoked to be able to finally release this album and eventually start playing shows.”

“Bedroom Walls”

This EP of seven songs is truly great. The emotion behind Randle’s voice is so inspiring and you can just hear the passion in her voice. The song “Bedroom Walls” starts off with this really cool digital synth sound. It sets the tone for the rest of the song. This song is about a relationship falling apart and you can hear the vulnerability. The song “Revive the Soul” is about struggling with mental health and is so honest. The lyrics, in particular, that stand out to me are “‘Cause I’m falling down the rabbit hole/ I wanna feel like myself/ I wanna know that I am fine/ ‘Cause the demons inside my head say things that keep me up at night”.  That feeling some know all too well. Not being able to sleep because your thoughts won’t stop. Feeling helpless and alone in the middle of the night is one of the worst feelings. These lyrics provide an insight into the artist and her openness about her struggles lets listeners who are going through the same things that they are not alone. Her song “Scared” also really stood out to me. This song provides an insight into Randle’s emotions and thoughts about political racism. The amount of sheer truth this song possesses is beyond me. It is so real and raw. The lyrics “I’m tired of the pain/ If I don’t care what you look like/ Why do you feel so scared at night/ Where’s the justice/ Where’s the judge/ Where’s the action/ Where’s the love”. These lyrics are perfection. Again, Randle’s raw vulnerability and emotion encapsulate the EP.

The stereotypes surrounding mental health are plaguing those affected. Taking care of your Mental health is one of the most important things you can do to take care of yourself. The stigma regarding mental health leaves some not wanting to talk about it. Adptd opens up a conversation about mental health such as anxiety and depression. Her vulnerability and willingness to share her experiences make listeners feel like they are not alone, and that is all anyone wants. The EP also opens up discussions surrounding systematic/political racism. Again, a lot of people do not like to talk about or even acknowledge this huge problem in our world. Being about to open up about her experiences provides her music with a vulnerability I have not quite heard before in other music. Her vulnerability and truthfulness are refreshing and the ability to talk about heavy topics is what makes her music emotionally resonate with listeners.

Overall

Adptd is a lyrical genius and takes personal experiences and pain and creates beauty with it. Hoping to connect with her fans, Josie Randle does just that with her new EP “Bedroom Walls”. You can listen to “Bedroom Walls” here on Spotify. Looking forward to hearing new raw, emotional, and brilliant music from Adptd. You can follow Adptd here.

Spotlight: Endless Midnight Releases “Not Here Right Now”

Today’s spotlight is an artist that you may be familiar with as they have worked with Mission Music before. Endless Midnight is not showing signs of slowing down after their latest release, “Not Here Right Now”.

About Endless Midnight

Leading this alternative rock project from New Jersey is Yuna Niemiec. Niemiec is the vocalist, instrumentalist, and lyricist behind Endless Midnight. Combining a little rock, metal, and  post-punk, they already have a following with over 800 followers on Instagram. Endless Midnight has 3 other songs out as well and continues to release new music at a steady pace. Back in January 2022, Endless Midnight released their latest single “Changes”. Following up with that is their newest single “Not Here Right Now” which releases on February 25th. Endless Midnight proves that hard work pays off as they keep putting out new music and continue to drive their passion and love for music.

“Not Here Right Now”

Just like their other songs, “Not Here Right Now” demonstrates the same rock guitar sound. The electric guitar throughout the track carries the vocals. Halfway through, another guitar riff is introduced which provides that song with a little bit of depth. The higher octave guitar helps to boost the energy of the song. Just like previous songs, the lyrics are raw and provide an insight into the songwriter’s life just like this lyric “Nothing is real anymore”. There is more of a rock and heavy metal vibe to this song as the vocalist demonstrates a growl or rock scream throughout. This provides the track with a more intense feeling to it. Saying how one is “Not here right now”, shows the vulnerability of the lyrics as well.

Overall

This track provides an edgy heavy metal sound. Endless Midnight continues to release new music and more songs are expected this year.

Spotlight: Sidney Bird Releases New Single “Brooklyn Baby”

This artist is truly remarkable and with every new song she releases, Sidney proves how strong her vocals and songwriting abilities are. Sidney Bird is making waves with her latest brilliant single “Brooklyn Baby”.

About Sidney Bird

Born and raised in Arizona, Sidney Bird is holding to her southwest roots and starting to make a name for herself in New York City. The western-pop singer-songwriter grew up with a love for comedy and musical theater. She uses that love to continue to create dynamic storytelling into her music. Sidney Bird said, “I grew up listening to Barenaked Ladies, Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell. Then became obsessed with Katy Perry, Britney Spears- all the popstars”. In 2020, Bird released her debut album, “Bad Timing”, which features singles “Kisses”, and “Wild”. The album has over an impressive 1.7 million streams. In 2021, she released her EP “Big Heart” and debuted the project live at Rockwood Music Hall! Recently, Bird released her track “Renaissance Man”. This single was very popular on Tik Tok and gathered her more of a following. With a strong fanbase and songs ready to release, there is no doubt Sidney is going to have so much success this year! Her latest single is entitled. “Brooklyn Baby” was released on February 22nd and is accompanied by a music video!

“Brooklyn Baby”

This song has much more of a pop vibe than Bird’s previous tracks, but nevertheless, it still is everything you could ever want in a song. This track features a head-bopping drum and infectious melody. The bridge builds up and up and then the electric guitar brings you to the chorus once more with Bird’s sensational vocals. Her high notes really make the song feel dreamlike and the power behind her vocals are perfect for this track. This song is really about the lyrics. “Brooklyn Baby” shares Sidney’s insight on her journey as an artist and her life. Being able to accept the fact you are growing up is a really hard thing to do and this song beautifully captures that. Her vocals shine throughout this song. The music video as well encapsulates a dreamlike state and is a perfect match for the song. Here is what Sidney said about “Brooklyn Baby”.

"I wrote “Brooklyn Baby” a couple days after moving to New York. I felt so grown up in my new apartment, but part of me also felt super scared of how 'old' I was getting. I sat down with my guitar and wrote this song; it's about self reflection and growing up".

-Sidney Bird

Overall

Sidney truly offers a unique and vulnerable perspective on her journey through life. This song serves as an inspiration to know that everything will work out. Sidney Bird has many more songs in the works for the year and fans are so excited!

While working with Hopeless Records, Anarbor toured the United States and also visited Japan, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. The band also released two EP’s and two full-length studio albums while at Hopeless Records. In 2016, Anarbor independently released their third studio album and another EP in 2018. In 2020, the band released their latest EP titled Tangerine, after they signed with their new label One RPM. It is clear as day that the band has never stopped their drive for creating and producing music. After nearly 20 years of making music together, Anarbor continues to put out incredible songs. Fans will be happy to know Anarbor is getting ready to release their fourth full-length studio album this year! Anarbor just released their newest single “Drugs''.

“‘Drugs’ is a song that begins with a story. It draws you in with its catchy guitar riff and retro verse melody. Once the chorus hits, it’s everything you wanted and more. When I heard the first mix, I couldn’t get the hook out of my head for days, so much that I would hear it in my sleep. It’s upbeat and simple, and sometimes that’s all it takes.”

 —  Slade of Anarbor

“Drugs”

Metaphorically comparing drugs to love accompanied by the catchy guitar riff is all you need in life. The lyrics talk about the highs and lows of a relationship, just like if you were on drugs. The exciting energy of a new relationship is captured in this song. This upbeat retro vibe is something everyone who has experienced that new relationship energy can relate to. The music video, which you can watch here, offers a psychedelic vibe and really encapsulates the song. The video is super retro and leaves you with a nostalgic feeling. The chorus is super catchy and will most certainly be on repeat. Members Slade and Danny truly know what it takes to make a great song and no doubt their upcoming album will be full of great songs, just like “Drugs”. “Drugs” is available to stream on all platforms so check it out!

“Slade and I grew up watching music videos on MTV and VH1, and we’ve always been fascinated by the early visual effects in music videos from the 80s and 90s. When our friend and director Cory Davis from Yellowbox Films showed us his rig of old CRT televisions and analog visual effects equipment, we were immediately sold on his vision. The visual vibe of the video fits the theme of the song perfectly, and it’s really cool we had the opportunity to go back in time with this project and make a video that looks like it’s something you’d see on VH1 in the 80s.”

 —Danny of Anarbor

Overall

Anarbor definitely is not going anywhere any time soon. Their songs are full of life and energetic retro vibes that are sure to get people excited. Their highly anticipated fourth album will be out in 2022, so get ready to have that on repeat, just like “Drugs”.

This duo is full of positive energy and their newest song makes you feel like you are on a journey. Wild Story’s newest single “Right Here Right Now” is all about being present in your life and the lyrics engulf this message.

About Wild Story

This indie-pop duo from Los Angeles is on Cloud 9 right now following the release of their newest brilliant track. Duo Viv Parker and Katie Hargrove have not always worked together, but after writing together for the first time, they knew this was something they could not give up. Combining both of their talents in production and vocals, the two have no signs of slowing down. Both Parker and Hargrove were solo artists before joining forces. Making sure to follow their own vision in what they believe music is about, WIld Story is all about embracing who you are and being in charge of your own destiny. Last year, Wild Story released their debut EP “Into the Wild, which you can listen to here. The duo’s newest single “Right Here Right Now” is all about living in the moment and encapsulates such a positive feeling.

“Right Here Right Now”

“Right Here Right Now” is our sonic take on being in the moment and living life to the fullest. From the arrangement of the drums to the dynamic storytelling of the lyrics and melody, we really wanted this song to take our listeners on a journey from beginning to end.”

 — Wild Story

This song perfectly captures the feeling of being who you are and not letting anything get you down. Being present in your life, being “Right Here Right Now” is all that this track is about. The positive vibes throughout are carried by the infectious melody. The bass drop at the beginning of the chorus is perfect. It makes the song what it is and helps listeners transcend into the song and really feel the song. The drums throughout are show-stopping and connect with the vocals to create a truly sensational song. The strong and flawless vocals truly capture the lyrics. This song is all about storytelling and making the listener feel something. This track is a journey through self-discovery. The lively drums and powerful lyrics are one and the same. Wild Story makes the listener feel empowered and make sure that they live life to the fullest potential.

“Right Here Right Now” is available to stream on all platforms. To listen to the latest single by Wild Story, click here

“We wrote this one with our friend and co-creator, Jessica Cole. We love that this song feels anthemic yet vulnerable at the same time, as if to say ‘embrace what scares you and let life take you on the ride.’ This song is all about being present and the realization of waking up to yourself and the world around you. Through a blend of our alternative and dream pop styles, we wanted to create a new vibe full of swagger and endless possibilities. We hope it makes our listeners feel determined and eager to dream, color, and live outside the lines.”

 — Wild Story

Overall

This track is going to allow Wild Story to reach new heights. The dynamic sound captures the meaning behind the song. This newest single is full of good vibes and will be on repeat. Wild Story has a bright future ahead of them and no doubt will continue to invoke the same positive energy and message into all of their songs.
