Spotlight: Loss Of Signal Releases “Audible Trauma”
Some of us like to listen to more modern music. Others like to listen to music that was before their time. But, have you ever wanted to go back to your childhood roots and listen to the music you loved when you were a kid? Today’s artist does just that. Exploring the nostalgia side of music with their latest work.
Loss Of Signal
Lately, we have been focused on American pop-punk. But what about international music? This Punk-Rock band from Belfast, Ireland goes back to the nostalgic 90’s with their music. Loss of Signal takes music back to the golden hours by creating music which reminds you of Paradise Fears, Rise Against and Sum 41 with their discography. The band is fronted by Dario (guitar/vocals), Ash plays guitar and Graham is on Drums. Loss of Signal made their debut in 2019 with their EP, Could Do Better. 2020 was a hard year for many, as the pandemic began to take over society, but that did not stop the band. They released two singles, You and Underdogs which takes a more Blink-182 meets Sum 41 twist to them. As the pandemic began to slightly lift and lives moved forward, so did Loss Of Signal. The band released Aftermath which takes a Rise Against meets Anti-Flag twist to the single.
Audible Trauma
This 12-track debut album takes on a special twist to the album that makes you remember the good days in Pop-punk/Punk-rock music. The album begins with a track that reminds you of a video game and features an automated feminine voice. The first new song on the album, Grown Ups reminds one of Blink-182 meets We The Kings and New Found Glory, yet vocally has a more modern tune to it. Loss Of Signal’s prior released songs, You, Underdogs, Break Out, Go, Home, and Aftermath are also featured on the album, with remastering. How Long is the next new song on the album and has a more punk message to the track, while instrumentally goes back to their core influences. Homewrecker follows the new tracks with a Rise Against meets Anti-Flag vibe, while vocally, has a similar sound to Blink-182. Control follows in the newer tracks released which sounds as if Simple Plan and Taking Back Sunday wrote a song together with Mark Hoppus from Blink-182. The War which is both the last new song released and last track on the album, takes on an energetic ending the album. The War provides a political punk message to the album, talking about several topics and the importance of acting and doing your part to fix the world. In short, Audible Trauma provides a strong punk message to the listener and covers a wide variety of topics. From home life and relationships, to more global and country messages, it is clear that change is needed today.
Overall
No matter where you go, it is clear that home will always help you learn your roots. Which is what Loss of Signal did. With very clear influences, but with a slightly modern twist, the pop-rock and pop-punk band has truly set the stage for a wild 2022. The 12-track album covers both new and old songs and one that will remind you of the golden days of music.
