Spotlight: Key Flight Captains Release “Heart Strings”
This alternative rock band is one that is full of brilliant lyrics, instrumentals, and vocals. Key Flight Captains is one to look out for as they increase their following and have new music just around the corner.
Key Flight Captains
Key Flight Captains (KFC), founded in 2014 by Corey and Ryno, is an alternative rock band from Houston, Texas. The band gathers inspiration from many bands such as Incubus, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, and The Police. Key Flight also has collaborated with artists known as Saliva, Otherwise, Parabelle, Black Oak Arkansas, Rehab, Flaw, and Hold On Hollywood. The band was able to give their first radio performance on 91.1 The Boss in May 2019 when they performed an acoustic set live on air. In June 2019, Key Flight Captains competed and made it into the top 5 out of 60+ submissions in a contest. This contest was conducted by 94.5 The Buzz’s Rod Ryan and Blue October's Justin Furstenfeld titled “The Next Big Thing”. The band had their second radio appearance on 94.5 The Buzz as one of the “Hometown for the Holidays” winners. Key Flight Captains had their song played twice a day as a result of winning this contest! Fans can rest easy waiting for new music because Key Flight Captains are working on their latest single currently. Ryan is the lead guitarist and vocals of the band and Corey is the drummer.
When asked what impact they wanted to make through Key Flight Captains, Ryan, said,
"I want to uplift people and spread our message of real music being made with real instruments and with real people. Also, we just love making people move, dance, crowd surf, and just have a good time”!
Corey offered a little insight as to why he wanted to team up with Ryan and form Key Flight Captains.
"I teamed up with Ryan because the vibes are always good and the music just poured out of us easily. Never a dull moment when collaborating in the studio”.
Corey and Ryan also reflected on their favorite experiences with the band.
"We played at the oldest venue in Houston, Fitzergeralds before it was closed down. We also got to go work with Jim Wirt in Ohio. Lastly, being one of the winners for 94.5 The Buzz's "Hometown for the Holidays”.
It is clear that Corey and Ryan have a great friendship and great chemistry and you hear that in their music.
Heartstrings
Key Flight Captains' latest single is full of truthful lyrics, catchy guitar riffs, and energetic vocals. A song about a failed relationship is something that everyone listening can relate to. Describing a relationship with the phrase “pulling my heartstrings” really emphasizes the depth behind these lyrics. This toxic relationship messing around with your emotions and knowing that it was going to fail is very impactful. The truth behind these lyrics accompanied by the fast tempo, electric guitar, and drums, make a really cohesive rock song. The energetic electric guitar throughout is very catchy and gives Heart Strings that rock edge complete with a sensational guitar solo. It is clear as day why this single was played on 94.5 The Buzz after winning a contest. This song is a headbanger and has that true rock vibe. Here is a link to the music video for Heart Strings.
Overall
Key Flight Captains have a distinct rock sound that sets them apart from other alternative rock bands. The band has a lot of new music that they are working on currently. Key Flight Captains have so much talent and their new music is sure to be filled with the same energy as Heart Strings.
